    Lawyers most of the time take a bad rap, especially if they are 3,000 miles away from you. They over charge and are never responsive. NOT THE CASE WITH PETER BALOGH. I found him listed in the San Mateo Bar association. He is the best advocate one could have. We ran into many problems which he addressed promptly. He answered our calls immediately.     We engaged the Law Offices of Peter Balogh to defend us in a contentious business arbitration matter in which an unscrupulous subcontractor was claiming $100K+ from our construction company in a baseless claim.  Both Peter Balogh, and his Associate Attorney Kenneth Linthicum, waded through voluminous paperwork in this complex commercial construction matter, presented our case at arbitration in the highest professional manner -- including making a particularly strong closing argument. We won. The other side appealed, and Peter squashed the appeal with a strong rebuttal that was also successful resulting in a final decision in our favor. All the while, Peter kept us well informed by e-mail, phone, and meetings as needed. Peter prepared us very well for our arbitration appearance, and amazingly, he kept the fees down and very reasonable. We are truly grateful as he saved us thousands of dollars. We admired his competence at every stage, and his down-to-earth demeanor kept us calm throughout the ordeal. Peter is very easy to talk to, he never rushes you, and he listens well. You definitely want him on your side of the table. He's pretty intimidating to opponents because he is highly experienced with many years of practice, knows the law, thinks fast, and communicates well, both in writing and verbal argument. He's a powerful advocate. We have worked with Peter  Balogh on several matters over several years, and he is always client-friendly and competent. This was the first time we were ever sued.     I have known Peter as a friend for decades, but it wasn’t until I got into a little trouble that I could see how good Peter is at settling cases. Peter is well known in his circuit as a man of integrity. He takes on a variety of cases which gives him the credibility of not having to say for the 100th time to the same judge, the same tired line. I had a case with some additional misbehaviors, called “accentuators”, that could have led me to some serious trouble. Peter told me in no uncertain terms what could happen, but reassured me that if I follow his instructions, attending certain meetings, talking to certain professionals, gathering documents, things could settle more favorably for me. He called me frequently to check on my progress, and wrote a very convincing letter to the judge. Indeed, the case was settled with the most minimal of terms, and the judge even waived the $1,600 fine! Unheard of in that county. Additionally, Peter is the kind of lawyer who is very good at getting both sides to come to an agreement; he is excellent at mitigating emotionally charged circumstances. His fees are reasonable (though I did get a “friend” discount), and he is honest and gentle. He is currently working on some legal documents for me. I highly recommend Peter.

    I found Peter coincidentally: his office is 1/2 mile from my home, so when I needed help I looked him up. His website lists involvement with several non-profits, which impressed me. And his photo showed him with a horse, which suggested a down to earth person. And he offers a low-cost 1/2 hour consultation. I consulted Peter about an employment issue: false allegations and hostile treatment. Fortunately I had documentation to rebut. Peter was very attentive, understood the issues and my emotional distress, and helped me sort through options, reviewing pros and cons of each. He is very psychologically astute, and direct in his opinions without being critical or judgmental. We collaborated on decisions, rather than him telling me what shoud be done. Peter was very responsive – any inquiry was responded to promptly (unlike many lawyers, based on my experience and that of many people I know). He answered every question forthrightly, and never withheld information (again, not univeral among lawyers). Peter is a shirt-sleeves kind of guy, casual but professional, and not at all intimidating. I get the sense he really cares about his clients and understands the emotional distress that goes along with having to seek legal counsel. Also, Peter understands the financial constraints many people face when needing legal assistance. He reviews options, but always presents what would be most effective at the least cost to the client. I found Peter to be extremely competent, attentive, responsive, trustworthy, sensitive yet direct. He helped me immensely through an extremely difficult situation, in which I changed stance day by day, but he waited it out patiently, and the eventual outcome was good – but made all the better with Peter’s gentle involvement.     Peter represented me in the first part of my divorce process. Having gone through the second part with another lawyer, I miss being represented by Peter. First – why did i switch? A conflict of interest due to the fact that both my ex and I had been friends with Peter prior. Now, why do I miss Peter? Peter knows the law and knows the San Francisco court system.
